If you have ever been body shamed, know that you are not alone, and know that you are better than what those nasty remarks try to portray you as. Or, if you body shame yourself, it can lead to deeper problems and cause you to lose confidence, lose trust in yourself, and have less self worth.

Having a positive body image is very important to our development, whether you are a child or an adult. If you let yourself feel ashamed about the choices you make regarding your diet, outfit, or relationships, among many other things, you are actually punishing yourself!

This negativity will drag you down a path that is dangerous and harmful to you and your family, so in this post, we want you to read and accept these positive body image affirmations and start changing your life around.

5 Ways To Develop A Positive Body Image

1. Celebrate your body

This is an important first step that is key to success. You need to be proud of your body and take positive actions to celebrate it. Be thankful and appreciative that you have this body, and all the wonderful things you can do with it. 

2. Always put in your best efforts

You do not need to compete with celebrities for the best dressed award, but you can certainly feel better when you dress better. When you put in the effort to be your best self, your image towards yourself will improve, people will start noticing, and you will develop more confidence.

3. Be with positive people

It can be very emotionally draining when dealing with negative people, who has nothing good to say about any and every thing. This takes a toll on your mind and you can easily become influenced by these negative statements, especially if you do speak up or speak out. 

You do not necessarily have to cut them away from your life, but consider speaking to them about it and preach your positivity instead. You can also choose to spend less time with them. The choice is entirely up to you.

4. Be patient with yourself

You need to understand that things do not happen overnight. It takes time. If you are just starting out, be sure to be patient and give yourself plenty of time and opportunity to change and move towards this new positive mindset. 

Set some goals and use particular words to remind yourself of your goal. For example, when things are not going your way, we use the word “blessings” to remind ourselves of what we are trying to achieve and be thankful for what we have.

How to use affirmations?

  • Identify the negative thoughts that you wish to get rid of or something that you wish to manifest. Affirmations work in both scenarios, but you need to be clear about what you want.
  • Use the following list as a source of inspiration and guidance. You may use any affirmation as it is, or modify it to make it your own. The key thing here is that the affirmations MUST resonate with you and is a statement you truly believe in.
  • Pick out at least 2 affirmations and start using them. 
  • Begin a routine of practicing at least twice a day of reciting the affirmations with each session lasting 3-5 minutes. Repeat each one 10-15 times daily. You can do this in front of a mirror, or speak out loud, or do it in your mind. Do not skip any sessions.
