Things around us move quickly, and sometimes it can be a struggle to keep up. I used to dislike change, fearing that it will take me out of my comfort zone. I later discover that instead of fearing it, why not embrace it and look at it as a challenge to improve myself.

This simple mindset shift allowed me to tackle my problems more confidently and certainly helped me to grow and develop my career.

What are positive affirmations?

Positive affirmations are phrases or mantras that are repeated to directly challenge negative thoughts and feelings.

They are meant to create new ways of thinking that lead to more positive behaviors and actions.

Positive affirmations are one technique used in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

It aims to help people identify unhelpful or inaccurate thinking patterns and replace them with healthier and more positive ones.

When you think of positive affirmations, I want you to think of them as little helpful reminders that will bring about positivity whenever you need some.

How to deal with change?

Making use of change affirmations can surely help you out, but there are also some tips that I wanted to share with you on coping with changes in your life.

They have helped me to get through some of the toughest periods of my life and I hope they can help you out too.

  1. Make plans ahead of time. Change happens. You can plan for it and prepare for it, but there’s no guarantee that things will go your way. Even if you don’t know exactly what’s going to happen, having a plan in place gives you a direction to follow. It also makes you ready to take action immediately when something happens. For example, if someone is sick or injured and needs to be taken to the hospital, knowing which hospital to go to saves time and questioning during an already stressful situation.
  2. Change the way you think. Identify the thoughts that stress you out and cause negative emotions. For example, if your current situation isn’t ideal, but you’re thinking about how poor and miserable everything is, then stop it! It’s only going to make things worse by adding extra stress on top of your already stressful situation.
  3. Find support in your social circle. One great way to do this is to ask people who have successfully navigated the same change for advice on how they did it. For example, if you’re switching careers, talk to people who made the switch and ask them what worked for them, and what advice they would give you. Another way to get support is simply by telling your friends and family that you’re going through a major life change. They may be able to help you directly, or they might know someone who has been through a similar situation and can offer advice.

How to Use Affirmations Effectively?

  • Identify the negative thoughts that you wish to get rid of or something that you wish to manifest. Affirmations work in both scenarios, but you need to be clear about what you want. This post about learning how to write affirmations might help you out.
  • Use the following list as a source of inspiration and guidance. You may use any affirmation as it is, or modify it to make it your own. The key thing here is that the affirmations MUST resonate with you and is a statement you truly believe in.
  • Pick out at least 2 affirmations and start using them. 
  • Begin a routine of practicing at least twice a day of reciting the affirmations with each session lasting 3-5 minutes. Repeat each one 10-15 times daily. You can do this in front of a mirror, speak out loud, or do it in your mind. Do not skip any sessions. I usually do this each morning when I wake and before I go to bed.
  • Download and print out your own affirmations worksheet below to use as a guide for manifestation. Stick it on your mirror/journal/vision board, or anywhere you can easily access it throughout the day so that it can serve as a constant reminder to you.

  • Be patient! It usually takes a month or so to see changes.
